High Hopes for Colon Magi Volleyball in 2025

The Colon Magi volleyball team enters the 2025 season with high expectations, and for good reason. Under the steady leadership of sixth-year head coach Michelle Walkinhood, the program has continued to grow each year—and this fall, the pieces may be in place for a deep postseason run. Adding to the excitement, Colon will host the district tournament, giving the Magi a true home-court advantage when the stakes are highest. At the forefront is senior Raegan Thaxton, an explosive outside hitter who earned Second Team All-Conference honors in 2024 despite competing in one of the toughest leagues in the area. Her experience, consistency, and leadership will be crucial to the team’s success. Supporting her is a strong returning core. Madison Kulpinski, a middle hitter, and Jillian Stabler, the team’s reliable libero, both earned All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition last season. Their presence gives Colon a balance of power at the net and stability in the back row. The Magi will also get a boost from a newcomer with familiar ties. Freshman Braelyn Thaxton joins the roster this season, giving Colon a unique sister duo on the court. Her development throughout the season could provide the Magi with an added spark as they pursue their goals. The journey begins tomorrow at the St. Joseph County Tournament, with Colon opening its season at 4:00 PM at Sturgis High School. With veteran leadership, proven talent, and promising young contributors, the Colon Magi have plenty to be excited about. If the team can continue building chemistry and performing in big moments, they could be primed to make a serious postseason push.
