After seven seasons leading the Colon Magi boys basketball program, Head Coach Steve Vinson has announced he is stepping down from his position, closing the chapter on one of the most successful eras in program history. Vinson leaves with an impressive overall record of 113-52, highlighted by five district championships and the first regional title in Colon boys basketball history. His tenure not only elevated the program competitively, but also established a standard of excellence that will be felt for years to come. Under Vinson’s leadership, the Magi became a consistent force in postseason play, combining disciplined basketball with a team-first mentality. His teams were known for their toughness, preparation, and ability to rise to the moment—qualities that defined his coaching philosophy. Reflecting on his time with the program, Vinson shared: "Together, our accomplishments have been ones that future Magi athletes will aspire to repeat. I wish the program the best of luck going forward." Vinson’s impact extended beyond wins and championships. He played a key role in developing student-athletes both on and off the court, helping shape a culture rooted in accountability, effort, and pride in wearing the Magi uniform. Colon High School is deeply appreciative of Coach Vinson’s dedication, leadership, and the lasting legacy he leaves behind. His contributions have set a new benchmark for success within the program. The school will begin the process of identifying the next head coach immediately as it looks to build upon the strong foundation established during Vinson’s tenure.
