Colon Magi Boys Basketball Prepares for District Tournament After Historic Year The Colon Magi Boys Basketball team is heading into district play riding the momentum of one of the most historic seasons in program history. Records have fallen, milestones have been reached, and expectations are high — but the ultimate goal still lies ahead. With an 18–4 record, the Magi posted 18 regular season wins — the most in school history. Yet despite that accomplishment, Colon enters the district tournament as the No. 2 seed, with a tough road standing between them and a championship. Milestones That Defined the Season This season wasn’t just about wins — it was about legacy. Coach Steve Vinson – 100 Career Wins Head Coach Steve Vinson reached the 100-win milestone this year, cementing his impact on the Magi program. His leadership has guided Colon to sustained success, culminating in the program’s best regular season record ever. Dalton Williams – A Name in the Record Books Senior standout Dalton Williams etched his name permanently into Colon basketball history: • Colon Boys Basketball All-Time Leading Scorer • Surpassed former record holder Kirk Fisher • Tied the single-game scoring record with a 40-point performance In an incredible family achievement, Dalton now joins his sister Reese Williams, who became the Colon girls basketball all-time leading scorer during the 2023–24 season. The Williams family legacy is now firmly woven into Magi basketball history. The Road Through Districts District play begins tomorrow night at 7:00 PM at Mendon High School. First Up: Burr Oak Bobcats (3 Seed) Colon will face the Burr Oak Bobcats, the No. 3 seed, in a high-stakes semifinal matchup. While the Magi hold the higher seed, tournament basketball always brings intensity and unpredictability. Potential District Final: Mendon Hornets If Colon advances, a likely championship matchup awaits against the rival Mendon Hornets, who finished 21–1 — the best regular season in their program’s history. Mendon defeated the Magi twice this year, with both games decided in overtime. A third meeting would bring high drama, high energy, and a district title on the line. What’s at Stake • District Semifinal: Tomorrow at 7:00 PM vs. Burr Oak • District Championship (if advancing): Friday at 7:00 PM • All games hosted at Mendon High School Tickets for tomorrow’s game can be purchased here: https://gofan.co/event/6150787?schoolId=MI10200 Historic regular season.
